Last night on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno, IWU alum Quinton Gibson played lead guitar for country singer Darius Rucker on the song “True Believers,” the title track from the former Hootie and the Blowfish lead singer’s third country music album. Gibson has been touring with Rucker for much of the past two years.

While at IWU, Gibson, who graduated in 1991, was part of a Christian rock band known as Seraiah. The band had some national success, signing with Pure Metal/Starsong Records in 1990 and releasing two CDs. Seraiah–which is a Hebrew word meaning “Soldier of the Lord”–had a number of singles hit the charts, including this Top 10 single, “Time for a Change”:

Fellow Seraiah member Kyle Dietz is also having a good year, having won a recurring role as a drummer on the ABC TV show Nashville. His first episode in the role airs in January.
